Representative Mark Meadows (R-NC) recently released more text messages between former F.B.I. officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page. These messages lend more credibility to the argument that these individuals — as well as others — were influenced by their anti-Trump bias during investigations into Russia’s meddling in the 2016 election.
The text messages between Strzok and Page reveal a plan to leak information to the press that was damaging to President Trump. In the wake of the anonymous op-ed that was published in The New York Times, this revelation bolsters the argument that an anti-Trump faction — AKA the Deep State — in the government exists.
The “Media Leak” Strategy
Meadows penned a letter to U.S. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein informing him of the text messages. He wrote:
“Our review of these new documents raises grave concerns regarding an apparent systemic culture of media leaking by high-ranking officials at the FBI and DOJ related to ongoing investigations.”
The messages in question were sent on April 10, 2017, and April 12, 2017. The first message read: “I had literally just gone to find this phone to tell you I want to talk to you about media leak strategy with DOJ before you go.”
You read that right. Strzok texted Page about a “media leak strategy.” Given the fact that he previously indicated in a text message that Trump would not become president because “We’ll stop it,” and other messages that demonstrated his animus toward the president, this new development suggests that he wanted to leak information that would harm him.
Later, Strzok sent Page a message congratulating her while referencing two negative articles about Carter Page, a former adviser to Trump’s campaign. He informed Lisa Page that two more articles were going to be published, one of which is “worse” than the other about the former campaign adviser.
These messages were recently provided to Congress. Previously, the F.B.I. and Department of Justice were not able to recover messages sent between December 2016 and May 2017. Fortunately, the Inspector General was able to find them.
Another Deep State Exposure
In the letter, Meadows writes that these text message show “a coordinated effort on the part of the FBI and DOJ to release information in the public domain potentially harmful to President Donald Trump’s administration.” The content of the messages supports the contention that certain government officials are actively working to impede the president.
The notion that bad actors within the government are working to disrupt the operations of the White House should be concerning to all Americans. It would be easy to imagine the outrage that would be ignited if this sort of behavior occurred during Obama’s tenure. However, the left and their allies in the legacy media seem more than willing to overlook this behavior if it harms the president.
The author of the anonymous NYT op-ed was correct when they wrote: “President Trump is facing a test to his presidency unlike any faced by a modern American leader.” Not only is this president facing opposition from Democrats and some Republicans, but officials in the government are also trying to subvert his agenda — the one on which he was elected.
It is important to point out that the president would do well to root out those in his administration who are not on board with his vision. Since taking office, Trump’s White House has had numerous leaks. People working with the Department of Justice and the F.B.I have also given damaging information to salivating journalists who cannot wait to spin a news story into a weapon against the president.
Let’s be clear. Strzok and Page are not the only bad actors in this story. There are likely many others who wish to earn the adoration of the left by throwing the Trump administration under the bus. It has become a novel way to gain fame and notoriety. The establishment media will either spin or ignore these new revelations. But anyone with common sense can see that leftists are willing to go to almost any extreme to harm the president. Unfortunately for them, their machinations are continually being exposed to the public.
