Recently, the Democratic Party unveiled its new slogan for the 2018 midterm elections. Previously, Liberty Nation reported on the process the party went through to decide how they were going to brand themselves in a way that will appeal to American voters. After trying out several different slogans, it appears they have finally made a decision.
The Democrats’ new slogan is “For The People.” This will be their war cry — a mantra they will undoubtedly shout from the rooftops until irritated passersby tell them to shut their mouths. However, the new catchphrase raises some questions: For which people? And what exactly will the Democrats do for these folks?
Liberty Nation discussed the new slogan with a variety of Democratic operatives who provided more clarity on the meaning of the phrase. At first, they were hesitant to speak with us because we are evil. But they had a change of heart after we bribed them with a feast of avocado toast and beer battered vegan fish sticks. We have disguised their names because they “didn’t want anyone to know that they breathed the same air as bigoted, fascist Nazis.”
As always, their focus is on wooing voters who belong to groups that the left can manipulate by telling them everyone else is a racist/sexist/misogynist/homophobe. We spoke to these Democratic operatives about what the new slogan will mean to each group.
Hispanic Americans remain one of the Democrats’ most important voting blocs. In the presidential election, 66% of Hispanics voted for Hillary Clinton. Needless to say, the Democrats must continue to find better ways to pander to this group of Americans.
“Our new slogan means that the Democrats will do everything possible to open our borders,” said Wilhelm Jackson, a Democratic strategist. “The way to appeal to Hispanics is to make it easier for South Americans to enter the country illegally, that way we can pass laws that allow them to vote!”
When asked how this is fair to Hispanic Americans who came to the United States legally, Jackson balked “What do you mean? Aren’t most of these Mexicans here illegally?”
The conversation shifted to the Democrats’ efforts to abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). “The best way to reach Hispanics is to push for the abolition of ICE,” Jackson exclaimed, “The fact that families have been separated at the border is horrible, and if we get rid of ICE, we’ll get more votes.”
We pointed out that ICE isn’t the agency that separated children from parents at the border. We also brought up the number of human trafficking arrests the agency has made. “Well, they may not be the ones separating kids, but ‘abolish INS’ doesn’t have the same ring as ‘abolish ICE,’” Jackson responded. “Also, we’ll get far more votes by using families at the border than we would if we focused on a bunch of kids being sold into sex slavery.”
The LGBTQ+ Community
After winning the battle over gay marriage, one would think that the LGBTQ+ community would have everything they want. Indeed, many have taken advantage of their new rights. The Episcopal church has even agreed to conduct same-sex wedding ceremonies. However, the Democrats have convinced a significant number of these individuals that they are still victims because wicked Christian bakers and florists have refused to offer their services for same-sex weddings.
“The notion that anyone of any religion should not be forced to violate their religious convictions is oppressive,” said Mika Mason, an activist for the LGBTQ+ community. “This debate is nothing less than a resurgence of the civil rights movement. Christian bakers who refuse to cater to gay weddings are no better than Bull Connor unleashing police dogs and fire hoses on blacks in the 1960s.”
The Democrats hope that if they can use the government to infringe on the First Amendment rights of religious Americans, they can get more support. “This whole First Amendment thing makes it harder to force people to do what we want,” Mason whined. “There has to be a way around it, right?”
When asked about the popularity of the #WalkAway movement, in which Americans — many of whom are members of the LGBTQ+ community — explain the reasons why they have left the Democratic Party, Mason scoffed, “Please. That whole WalkAway thing is just another Russian plot to influence our elections. There is absolutely no way that a gay, lesbian, or transgendered person would ever leave the Democratic Party. They belong to us! Bwa ha ha ha ha!”
Last, and nowadays, least, the Democrats’ new slogan also has meaning for black Americans. The party has enjoyed the support of at least 90% of black voters for decades despite doing nothing to better their lives. Nevertheless, they have persisted in courting the black vote.
“The great thing about blacks is that they’ll keep voting for us because we convinced them to believe Republicans are all racists,” said Terry Randall, a Democratic leader in Baltimore. “We’ve destroyed their cities, kept them in poverty, and done nothing about crime in their communities — and they still think we’re better than the GOP!”
Despite their lack of success, the Democrats still believe that they are the party for black people. “Yeah, we’ve made some mistakes, but we just tell blacks that if they vote Republican, they’ll be back to singing negro spirituals while picking cotton in Mississippi,” Randall said. “Oh and we also call them Uncle Toms and sellouts if they consider leaving. That always works!”
Randall laughed off any mention of the #WalkAway movement as well. “There ain’t no black folks leaving the party. Those people making those WalkAway videos are just dark-skinned Russians. Everyone knows that” he quipped.
Americans Living in the Heartland
If “For the People” is a slogan that is relevant to all Americans, it would make sense that even voters living in middle America could relate to the new catchphrase. We asked Paul Halverston, a campaign manager who has worked for a variety of different Democratic politicians, how the new slogan applies to people in the Midwest. Unfortunately, he began laughing so hard that he couldn’t give us an answer.
Will the New Slogan Usher in the Blue Wave?
The Democrats have been in a precarious situation since the 2016 election. With this new slogan, they are hoping for a blue wave in which Democrats will take control of Congress and regain some of their power. Will it work? Only time will tell.
